Hazardous & Electronic Waste
Hazardous wastes should not be put in the trash, poured down a sink drain, or poured down storm drains.
Common household hazardous wastes include – used motor oil, used oil filters, antifreeze, paint, paint thinner, cleaning products, pool chemicals, pesticides, mercury thermometers, expired medication, syringes, batteries, light bulbs, TVs, VCRs, landline and cell phones, computers, printers, copiers, stereos, appliances, etc.
These materials should be delivered to the City of El Monte’s Hazardous Waste & Electronic Waste Collection Facility for proper disposal. The facility is open quarterly on the first Saturday of February, May, August, and November, to El Monte residents only.

Due to COVID-19 the event scheduled for May 2, 2020 will be canceled. The next event is tentatively scheduled for June 6, 2020. The website will be updated if further Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up cancellations occur.

Business waste, explosives, ammunition, and tires will not be accepted.
