Administrative Services
Administrative Services has the responsibility of management oversight for the administrative areas of the El Monte Police Department. The Administrative Captain is responsible for the police budget, communications, facility maintenance, information systems unit, jail operations, property unit, recruitment and backgrounds, records unit, fleet, maintenance unit, procurement and liaison with Human Resources related to Worker's Compensation.
Administrative Services consists of the following units:
ALARM PROGRAM
The Alarm Program allows the Police Department to effectively utilize our resources, and makes the responsible parties aware of the activity of their alarm system.
DISPATCH
The Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to respond to requests from citizens, and field personnel.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The Information Systems Unit provides technical support to various units within the Police Department.
JAIL
The Jail Unit provides a safe and well-maintained atmosphere for the care and custody of those incarcerated.
PROPERTY BUREAU
The Property Unit is responsible for receiving, storing, tracking and disposing of all property and evidence.
RECORDS
The Records Unit's responsibilities include transcribing police reports, matron duty, narcotic registrants, and releasing records as required by law.
TRAINING
The Training and Recruitment Unit ensures that all employees are trained to the mandated requirements as set forth by federal, state and local laws.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
The Vehicle Maintenance Unit maintains the entire police vehicle fleet which includes patrol vehicles, traffic motors, K-9 vehicles, and selected detective vehicles.
