Patrol Services

The Patrol Services plans and coordinates the field patrol officers. Supervise the field division, plan, direct, organize and supervise departmental activities involving operations of the Field Patrol functions and activities. These also include the planning, training, selection of Patrol special assignments which include K-9, SWAT, Traffic Division, Mounted Unit, and media relations as they pertain to the patrol officer or first responding officer. 
The Patrol Services also coordinates police activities with other City departments and divisions, and with outside agencies. Supervise Department activities in deployment and management of personnel. The duties will also include crime prevention and review of project assignments with conformance to City, state and federal laws.
Patrol Services consists of the following units:  
 
The Air Support Unit provides aerial protection for the ground officers and citizens of the community.
 
The Cadet Program offers young adults the opportunity to enhance their communication skills as well as expose them to a variety of avenues related to police work.
 
The Canine Unit utilizes police service dogs to assist the Patrol and Detective Bureaus.
 
The El Monte Police Explorer Post 522 is an exciting program for the youth of our community.
 
This program was implemented to bring together the community and the City departments to make the City of El Monte a better and safe city.
 
The Mounted Patrol officers and their equine partners participate in crime suppression and traffic enforcement assignments in areas of congested or heavy traffic.
 
The Parking Enforcement Unit patrols assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to enforce parking regulations.
 
The Patrol Unit handles a variety of radio calls including emergency in progress radio calls to quality of life issues.
 
The Reserve Program consists of highly-trained sworn police reserve officers who provide police services while maintaining successful careers inside and outside of law enforcement.
 
The SWAT Team provides protection to the El Monte public by responding to unforeseen and potentially violent incidents within the City.
 
The Traffic Safety Unit is committed to the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians within the City of El Monte.
