El Monte Police Chief Ben Lowry is a 21-year law enforcement veteran who started his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2000. He began his tenure with the El Monte Police Department in 2002.
In 2013, Lowry started with command responsibilities as a lieutenant and has since managed the Field Services Division, Administrative Services Division, Patrol Division, Traffic Safety Bureau, Community Relations Office, School Resource Officer program, Detective Bureau, Gang and Narcotics Unit, SWAT, Volunteer Programs, Parking Enforcement, Community Events, and the Records Bureau.
Chief Lowry possess two associates degrees from Rio Hondo College, a Bachelor of Science from Union Institute & University, and a Master’s Degree from Woodbury University. He recently graduated from the prestigious California P.O.S.T. Command College Program, “…a 14-month program designed to prepare law enforcement leaders of today for the challenges of the future.”
